With the objective of increasing synergy and fostering the entrepreneurial universe, Gerdau, leader in the long steel segment in the Americas and one of the main suppliers of special steel in the world, joined Intercement, Tigre and Vedacit for an unprecedented program to accelerate startups, coordinated by ACE, one of the most recognized accelerators in Latin America.

Called Work in Progress - WIP, the project was born to meet the needs of large Brazilian cities, which increasingly aim at disruptive projects focused on solutions that increase the quality of life of the inhabitants and, at the same time, are sustainable and efficient for the urban ecosystem. The initiative will have an investment of up to R$ 2.5 million during the acceleration stages.

Startups have until January 9 to submit proposals for the first notice of Work in Progress. In this initial phase, six companies will be selected, which will receive mentoring from company leaders and training focused on developing their ideas.

“The startup acceleration process is part of Gerdau's open innovation strategy, which aims to debate and seek solutions that can meet our and our customers' needs. Through direct relationships with startups, we have access to what is most innovative in the market, leveraging businesses in the value chain”, highlights Gustavo Werneck, Director of Operation Aços Brasil at Gerdau.
