Healthtech companies also generated 113 jobs in 2017 and invested R$ 9.7 million in research and development 

 

The technology companies that are part of the Vertical Saúde da Associação Catarinense de Tecnologia (ACATE) grew 30% in 2017, reaching a combined turnover of R$ 96 million reais. They also created 113 jobs, increasing the number of employees in 20%. In total, they are responsible for 645 jobs in Santa Catarina.
 
Regarding financial contributions, R$ 35 million were received from private funds, prevailing the angel investment model, and R$ 39 thousand in public investments. More than half of these companies were awarded nationally. They also earmarked R$ 9.7 million for research and development.
 
The importance of integrating the vertical is also evidenced in the balance sheet: 70% of the companies in the group generated business through it and 40% did business or partnerships with other companies in the vertical.
 
“It is a positive surprise to see the growth of these companies, which develop technology for such an important sector as healthcare, even during a delicate economic period. Certainly, the union between them through the group contributed to the results observed”, pointed out Walmoli Gerber Júnior, director of Vertical Saúde. The balance sheet refers to 20 of the 30 companies in the group, which responded to the survey.
