Brazilian companies invested 7.2% of their revenues in information technology in 2012, according to a study by the Center for Applied Information Technology of the School of Business Administration of São Paulo, of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). 
 
“We should arrive at 8% in four or five years, but that depends on the market. If the economy is better or worse, this [level of investment] accelerates or decelerates”, predicts with Fernando Meirelles, research coordinator.
 
According to the study, corporate and home computers reach 118 million, which corresponds to three computers for every five inhabitants. The Windows operating system is present in 98% of the workstations, In the servers, the use of Windows reached 69%, that of Linux, 18% and Unix, 11%.
 
The most used Internet browser in companies in 2012 was Microsoft Explorer (91%), followed by Mozilla FireFox (7%). The most common email was Microsoft (73%), followed by Lotus (12%), Linux Mail (6%) and Gmail (5%). 
 
The survey, which has been released annually for 24 years, surveyed 5,000 large and medium-sized companies with 2,200 valid responses.
