The Colab.re app is the first Brazilian tool
to integrate the group of applications for the inclusion platform

The social network Colab.re, which aims to bridge the gap between citizens and public authorities, is the first Brazilian application adapted to Facebook's Internet.org platform. Born in Porto Digital, a technological park in Recife, the app is already used by the city halls of Curitiba, Teresina and Campinas.

Colab.re allows users to inspect, propose and evaluate public services through posts and notifications. This empowerment dialogues with the proposal of Internet.org, which aims to develop solutions that promote access to the internet for low-income populations and isolated areas of the country.

"We want to present the platform to developers with social interest who act as partners in the production of content and services that can contribute to the initiative", explains Camila Fusco, Facebook's director of entrepreneurship.

To develop for Internet.org, those interested should work with solutions that offer connectivity to adverse scenarios - such as access to 2G networks and the use of cell phones with simpler configurations. "In practice, we worked as if we were developing a website seven years ago", comments Josemando Sobral, co-founder of Colab.re.

The announcement of the partnership was made during the I.org Developer Garage event, held at the headquarters of Jump Brasil, Porto Digital start-up accelerator. The meeting was the first in a series of activities promoting the Facebook initiative. Company representatives presented worldwide data and some results already achieved in countries where Internet.org has already been implemented.

"Colab.re is one of the most relevant initiatives that went through Porto Digital. The developers of the solution give citizens the possibility to participate in the administration of their city", comments Francisco Saboya, president of the technology park.

Porto Digital is one of the pillars of the new economy of the State of Pernambuco, with 200 companies that earned an average of R$ 1 billion (2010) and employ more than 6,500 people. Its performance is in highly intensive activities in knowledge and innovation, which are software and services of information and communication technologies and creative economy, especially in the segments of games, multimedia, cine-video-animation, music, design and photography, in addition to advertising and publicity.
