3DUX is made up of radiologists who work at Hospital das Clínicas de São Paulo

In the operating room, all planning collaborates with the physician's precision and helps to save the patient's life. With this in mind, radiologists Bruno Aragão Rocha and Virginio Rubin Netto developed a technique to use 3D printing in the modeling of organs, which can be studied by the surgeon in the evaluation of each specific procedure. The company 3DUX, founded by radiologists, is one of the 122 companies currently incubated at Cietec – Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology, the largest incubator in Latin America, which it joined in the first half of 2014.

Aragão and Rubin Netto began to model the prototypes free of charge for their colleagues at HC, at the end of 2012. The duo has its own equipment and has the services of 3D printing studios for the production of more complex and robust parts. "We started the work on an experimental basis and last year we bought two machines", adds Bruno Aragão.

The radiologists' technique combines medical knowledge and technology to reproduce complex structures of the human body, from arteries to organs with tumors. Three-dimensional printing allows details to be reproduced properly.

Doctors sought Cietec to expand the company, in order to sell their innovation to other medical centers. In the incubator, the partners will professionalize the production of molds, with a business model based on the interpretation of exams and the creation of customized solutions. "Medicine is increasingly based on the interpretation of image exams. We know that 3D printing is a tool that will help a lot in this work", argues the 3DUX partner.

According to Sergio Risola, executive director of Cietec, digital printing is a reality that is already changing markets such as design, architecture and engineering. "The use of the medical field brings benefits to professionals and patients, with innovations that will appear over time", reflects the specialist in innovative entrepreneurship.

Cietec's mission is to encourage entrepreneurship and technological innovation, supporting the creation, strengthening and consolidation of innovative technology-based companies and ventures. In its business units, in São Paulo and Mogi das Cruzes, incubation processes are carried out for innovative companies, at different levels of maturity. In these processes, Cietec offers support services for demands in the areas of technological, business and marketing management, as well as physical infrastructure for the installation and operation of these companies, enabling the expansion of the survival and competitiveness index of micro and small companies.
