– From 2021 to 2022, Investment One Partners saved 25% on its cloud spending, while from 2022 to 2023, the reduction reached 37%

– Through consultative work, the project developed by SoftwareOne presents a significant progression of results year after year and will have new developments in 2024

According to a survey by 451 Research, 80% of the 300 financial and IT leaders interviewed recognize that poor financial management in the cloud has brought great losses to business. Going against this, the Investment One Partners, an independent financial advisory company, reduced its cloud costs by 37%, from 2022 to 2023, which represented a saving of more than R$ 77 thousand.

This result occurred thanks to the collaborative work between the consultancy SoftwareOne, a leader in software and cloud technology solutions and services, and Investment One Partners that, through the implementation of the solution PyraCloud, as well as the adoption of best recommended practices, considerably reduced cloud spending, optimizing backups (a safe copy of information) and also storage (data storage).

To give you an idea, from December 2022 to December 2023, only the bandwidth service showed a cost reduction of 74% (from R$5.014 to R$1.327), while the backup service of 45% (from R$7.946 in December 2022, to R$4.355 in December 2023), while the storage 37% (from R$4.272 to R$2.677).

Investment One Partners' Technology Manager, Marlon Luciano, celebrates the fruits of the consolidation of the partnership with SoftwareOne. “When we started working with SoftwareOne, we were able to measure, from 2021 to 2022, 25% in cost reduction with the cloud. Observing the progression of this result year after year is extremely promising”, he states.

More governance at Investment One Partners

SoftwareOne's Service Success Manager, Sammuel Moretto, explains that the project with Investment One Partners foresees the use of PyraCloud with 24X7 support to continuously meet IT demands, in addition to the SSM (Service Success Manager), which every two months performs a session called Business Review, with the aim of reviewing the entire cloud environment, evaluating expenses and presenting suggestions for improvement.

Moretto also comments that throughout 2023 five Business Review sessions were held and the success of the optimization was due, above all, to the client's high willingness to put into practice all the proposed recommendations. “SoftwareOne’s consultative work, in addition to ensuring storage optimization, which reduced costs, also improved Investment One Partners’ backup configurations and policies”, he highlights.

Luciano, on the other hand, highlights the importance of the concept of FinOps for companies and reiterates that good results are the result of working together. “This monitoring and mapping carried out by the SoftwareOne team is really a big difference, since with the demands of everyday life there is not much time left to research improvements. In this way, having the company's support meant that we achieved a goal that was higher in 2023 than in 2022”, ponders the manager.

Moretto emphasizes that another Business Review proposal is to support the client on their path to safety. “Of the recommendations indicated by SoftwareOne, the applicability of Investment One Partners in 70% stands out, involving issues such as the holistic view of security and planning across the organization, PyraCloud consumption alerts, emergency account that allows reestablishing access to the organization in case of accidental blocking/attack, multi-factor authentication, full end-to-end protection of devices and applications, among others”, he states.

Therefore, given the excellent role played by the company in terms of security, the expert reinforces that few recommendations still need to be implemented. “We recommend Privileged Computer, which allows all administrative access to occur on a secure computer and environment, with little to no attack surface risk, Azure AD Password Protection, to ensure that passwords created are not weak or commonly used. recognized, in addition to identity protection, which automates the detection and investigation of possible risks related to the user’s identity”, explains Moretto.

Perspectives of the partnership for 2024

Marlon says that a large part of Investment One Partners' structure is on-premises and that the migration to the cloud is one of the next steps to expand the partnership with SoftwareOne. “By migrating data stored in data centers to the cloud, we will certainly be able to further optimize costs with the visibility that SoftwareOne's PyraCloud offers. For this reason, we are already studying this possibility”, he highlights.

Furthermore, SoftwareOne's SSM states that the company aims to support its customer with automation as well. To this end, the next step is to apply Unit Economics (last stage of FinOps), correlating business metrics with cost metrics using the Investment One Partners cloud. “At this stage, the idea is to understand how much each dollar spent on the cloud represents in the company’s revenue. In this way, through expense visibility, it is possible to demonstrate the value of FinOps and the IT area for the entire company, generating tangible results and further leveraging the business”, concludes Moretto.
