Santander Universities today opens registration for its largest program to encourage entrepreneurship in Brazil: Empreenda Santander 2019 is part of the global Santander X project, with which the Bank promotes university entrepreneurship worldwide.

The second edition will have three categories: Universidade & Microempreendedor, Universitário Empreendedor and the one destined to Startup. The Program is the evolution of the Santander Universidades Awards, held until 2015 and during the 11 years of its existence, more than 20 thousand entries were received, 161 awarded projects and R$ 11 million in prizes.

Empreenda Santander aims to foster entrepreneurship throughout Brazil and will support the businesses of the recipients of these three profiles with financial support, scholarships and mentoring for up to 6 months.

In the Entrepreneurial University category, university students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate courses in any Higher Education Institution recognized by the Ministry of Education and also technical education students may participate, under the guidance of a chosen teacher. The objective is to support innovative ideas, and the selected project will receive a financial contribution of R$30 thousand, a scholarship at Babson College - for teacher and student - in the United States and mentoring for up to six months carried out by ACE.

In Startup, the purpose is to support initiatives with high growth potential and scale. Entrepreneurs with business already established in the market participate and the finalist startup will receive the amount of R$100 thousand, in addition to a scholarship at Babson College and mentoring for up to six months carried out by Endeavor.

In the sphere of University & Microentrepreneur, the focus is on training the educational institution to support the development of the business of the selected microentrepreneur, for which the University will receive exclusive training from the Entrepreneurial Alliance.

Microentrepreneurs must be customers of Prospera Santander Microcredit, and interested parties should contact the credit agent to record a video about their business. After the microentrepreneur registration step, Universities will be able to watch the videos and choose between the businesses they wish to contribute to. The selected higher education institution will receive R$15 thousand to invest in the training plan that will support the microentrepreneur for up to six months, and he may receive R$5 thousand to invest in his business.

In the opinion of Steven Assis, Head of Santander Universities "the program offers a complete journey of entrepreneurship that addresses everything from the idea that many times it has not yet left the paper to scalable businesses that seek acceleration to consolidate themselves in the market".

Carioca Marcelo Guedes Roque, from Preço Certo, was the winner of the Startup category in the last edition of the program. Preço Certo is a pricing formation and results simulation startup for commerce and service providers. The platform aims to simplify what today is very difficult for MSEs: pricing accurately to understand the impact on the indicators and monthly business results. According to him, the initiative was a watershed for his company: “The training at Babson College associated with mentoring with a Bank executive and the acceleration of Endeavor changed our company from water to wine. We have been growing a lot since then. I recommend it to any entrepreneur who applies for Empreenda Santander. It is not a marketing ploy by the Bank. It is serious work. There are a lot of competent people directly involved in this support ”, he guarantees.
