Annual project sponsors the conservation, protection and preservation of cultural heritage

As part of EMC's initiative to preserve information and promote the conservation of world heritage, the company announces that nominations for the 2016 EMC Heritage Trust project are now being accepted through May 20, 2016. Grants up to US$ 15,000 will be awarded to projects around the world that practice and encourage the digital management of cultural information.

“As the world enters a new digital age, it becomes more important than ever to preserve, protect and make the world's information heritage available in digital form for future generations,” said Jessica Anderson, senior director of Engagement with EMC Community. “Since 2007, the company has donated more than US$ 42 million to the conservation of the world's cultural information through Information Preservation initiatives, including programs such as the Heritage Trust project. We're looking forward to seeing this year's nominees,” he commented.

As an important pillar of the Information Preservation Initiative, more than 45 Heritage Trust projects have been funded since 2007. Grants are awarded based on the number of individuals who would benefit from access to information that would be protected, on the "at risk" status of the information generated, the urgency of preservation, and how beneficial this subsidy would be for the overall success of the project.

Among the Heritage Trust recipients in 2015 are Higher Education in Latin America, administered through Spanish royal decrees (Colombia), the digitization of the Radar museum collections (Canada) and the digitization of the Ulahingan chronicles (Philippines).

The Heritage Trust 2016 project accepts applicants in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada (except Quebec), Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Arabia Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States.
