R$ 260 million will be released for innovation in the industrial sector

The Brazilian Company for Research and Industrial Innovation (Embrapii) opened, on April 15, the first public notice to hire scientific and technological institutions (ICTs) as units. Under a management contract with the Ministries of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and Education (MEC), the social organization will release R$ 260 million to encourage the industrial sector to innovate.

Candidates have until May 15 to send a letter of expression of interest. The deadline for submitting the accreditation proposal is June 2. ICTs need to inform specific areas of competence for the execution of technological development action plans in partnership with companies. The final result will be announced on August 15th.

Accredited units must sign a commitment with Embrapii to contract and execute innovation projects for a period of six years. The social organization contributes with a maximum of one third of the global value of the initiatives, while the partner companies need to invest at least the same amount. The remaining amount is the responsibility of ICT.

On the public call page (www.embrapii.org.br), can be downloaded, in addition to the text of the notice, the operation manual of the units, which defines concepts, criteria and procedures for the application of financial resources; the model expression of interest letter; the Action Plan document, a script that must be sent by the ICTs; and the Form file on the Candidate Institution for the Unit, with information of an institutional nature, detailing the area of competence and demonstration of fundraising capacity.
