Innovation action plans total R$ 177 million

The Brazilian Association of Industrial Research and Innovation (Embrapii) signed contracts with seven new Embrapii Units, selected in a public call launched in September 2016.

The Science and Technology Institutions (ICTs) were selected in areas considered strategic within the Brazilian innovation policy. They are: Open Innovation Center for Medicinal Chemistry (CQMED/Unicamp), São Paulo; Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnics (CSEM), Minas Gerais; Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP), São Paulo; Institute of Physics of São Carlos (IFSC/USP), São Paulo; Technological Development Institute (INDT), Amazonas; Senai Institute in Joinville, Santa Catarina; and Department of Chemical Engineering at Poli USP, São Paulo.

Together, these institutions have action plans worth R$ 177 million, with R$ 58.8 million from Embrapii – a social organization qualified by the federal government in 2013, which has a management contract with MCTIC. With the validation of the seven institutions, Embrapii now has 35 accredited units.
