Of the interns hired in 2020 and 2021, 44% were hired. Professionals talk about their journeys within the company, inspiring new talents

Elanco Saúde Animal opens its first internship program of the year in March. The company is looking for students from different areas and continues with its Diversity and Inclusion policy for selection, prioritizing, in this edition, black and brown people. The program aims to provide opportunities for those who wish to build a path of mutual learning, growth and collaboration.

Applications are open until March 29th and candidates who are at least two years away from graduating in courses such as administration, foreign trade, accounting, advertising, economics, engineering, pharmacy, literature, human resources, journalism, communication, marketing, international relations, veterinary medicine, zootechnics and related courses.

Vacancies are available in areas such as Quality, Purchasing, Pharmacovigilance, Sales Effectiveness, Innovation, among others. This edition of the program is affirmative for candidates declared black or mixed race. As a result, the company, which has an internal Committee focused exclusively on issues related to diversity, maintains its commitment to making the Internship Program even more aligned with this culture. “In addition to valuing diversity, we are firmly committed to inclusion. That's why we make this topic a central priority in our Internship Program. Our approach goes beyond simple statistics, focusing on creating a genuinely open and welcoming environment for all people”, highlights the senior director of HR LATAM, Canada & Aqua, Adriana Santana.

The candidate does not need to have prior professional experience. For some positions, knowledge of the Office package, English and/or Spanish is required. The level of language knowledge may vary depending on the requirements of the position. The selection process will be completely online and will include registration and CV selection stages, interviews and group dynamics and interviews with area leaders.

Scholarship and benefits

The program, which lasts two years and has a workload of 30 hours per week, offers a highly competitive benefits package. In addition to the stipend of R$ 2,500.00, benefits include meal vouchers, transport or parking vouchers, end-of-year bonus, group life insurance, medical assistance, pharmaceutical assistance (80% on prescription medicines), subsidy for language courses and Gympass for the intern and dependents.

Furthermore, Elanco has high hiring rates: in the last wave of internships (2020/2021) the hiring rate was 44%. “Many of our former interns now occupy coordination and management positions”, explains Adriana.

Career - One of the examples that it is possible to build a successful trajectory in the company, starting with the internship, is Danilo Tahan. An intern in 2010, he left the company to study in Australia for three months, but kept his doors open to returning. In 2012, when a permanent vacancy emerged in the cattle team marketing area, he took advantage.

From then on, Danilo's career grew. “I suggested dedicating part of my time to implementing the digital marketing area at Elanco and my manager agreed”, he says. The project was so successful that Danilo was invited by Elanco Global to develop the social media strategy for the entire company. With that, he became global social media manager and then became responsible for the e-mail marketing and multichannel strategy for veterinarians around the world. “Elanco provided me with all the opportunities I recognized and asked for. They gave me a chance to develop and all the structure I needed. I went from intern to global senior manager. The company listens, gives you space and gives you the chance you need to develop. This allowed and encouraged me to be the protagonist of my own story”, he said.

And speaking of history, Lea Misenga's journey also brings a lot of inspiration. In 2015, she left the Democratic Republic of Congo along with her parents and six siblings to seek in Brazil the security she no longer had in her homeland. She started at Elanco in 2019, as an apprentice in the Intercompany Services area. In 2020, she started an internship and, in 2021, even though she was still graduating, she was hired as an assistant in this same area, in the import and export department. “Here everyone looks at me as Lea, not as the refugee. I am valued and so are my origins.”

It highlights the opportunities to contribute positively to the company's growth and also to grow professionally and personally. “There are no limits to professional and personal growth, you just need to believe, prepare and embrace the opportunities that arise.”

For those looking for their first internship, Lea advises to value every moment, learn the stories of other professionals and always be curious: “try to go deeper into what you are doing, this is essential to develop an innovative outlook and gain experience. Furthermore, know where you want to go and enjoy each stage of the journey. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and experience things that only this position provides. Enjoy each phase and become the best professional you can be.”
