During a lecture promoted by ABES' Innovation and Development Board, last February, for its members, economist Carlos Alberto Leitão, Innovation and Funding manager at Sociedade Softex, presented which and how companies can participate in the Industry Development Program BNDES National Program for Software and Information Technology Services, which provides support, in the form of financing or subscription of securities, for the realization of investments and business plans of companies producing software and IT service providers.

According to the specialist, companies with headquarters and administration in Brazil, which maintain activities related to the software production chain in the country in its various modalities, may participate. Among the activities subject to support, Leitão highlights: investments in new machinery and equipment, acquisition of software and hardware, research and development of new products and services, working capital, implementation or expansion of activities abroad, among others. The minimum financing amount is R$ 1 million.

The economist also presented the requirements and procedures necessary for releasing the funds. "O BNDES Prosoft Program it is for mature companies and most of ours are still micro, small and medium-sized companies”, he points out in relation to the difficulties that companies face in using this source of funds. Regarding the requirements for releasing resources, the specialist considers that “the BNDES should give more weight to the projections and not to the organizations' past, with a focus on the gains that will come after the application of the resources obtained with the financing”, he completes.

As the first impact of the lecture, according to Leitão, about 10 companies have already made contact in search of further clarification and three of them said they will join Prosoft.

The Innovation and Development Directorate was created by ABES to be the focal point for members seeking advice and guidance to support innovation and on programs for growth and development of companies. “I consider it very important for businessmen to be aware of what is available on the market. We are working to bring existing programs closer to ABES member companies, so that they are able to choose the best program for their company”, explains Jamile Sabatini Marques, Director of Innovation and Development at ABES.
