The 'Dell's Midsized Company Research' study, carried out by Dell, which consulted more than 2,300 executives, mapped the priorities for investments in information technology of medium companies. Check out:

1.    Upgrading the current infrastructure – Upgrading the infrastructure represents the main concern of CIOs, directors and IT managers around the world for this year.

2.    Addressing security issues – Companies are more aware of the increased risks they are exposed to, as many companies do not have the necessary resources to recover from the long-term consequences of a serious security breach.

3. Adopting cloud computing – “This trend is justified by the fact that, more and more, medium-sized companies realize that solutions and services in the cloud are the only way for them to access, at an adequate cost, the most advanced in terms of technologies and, thus, ensure the growth and competitiveness of the business”, explains Luis Gonçalves, Sales Director for Mid Market at Dell Latin America.

4.    Increase use of virtualization – Among respondents, most executives from Germany, India and the US pointed out that around 50% of servers are already virtualized.

“This study demonstrates that medium-sized companies have concerns that are very similar to those of large corporations. Although, most of the time, they have smaller budgets and, therefore, require projects with more competitive costs and more efficient results”, says Gonçalves. What also differentiates medium-sized companies is the fact that they require flexible and scalable solutions that allow them to quickly adapt to demands.
