Datora Telecom, a Brazilian telecommunications multinational, has established a joint venture with the North American Vonage Holdings Corp, a provider of cloud communication services, to provide communication services in the country.

"Brazil is one of the fastest growing markets in the world for telecommunications services, so we are excited to partner with Datora to bring new services to Brazilian consumers," says Kimberly O & #39; Loughlin, director of Vonage for international markets.

"Datora's strategy is to develop new opportunities in the Brazilian market, diversifying our business and expanding our services", explains Wilson Otero, Datora's CEO.

With a total of 67 million households and only 17 million with broadband access, Brazil represents an opportunity for Vonage and Datora. The positive outlook is reinforced by the Brazilian government's commitment to invest around US$ 8 billion per year, between 2010 and 2013, to expand the national use of broadband before the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. As a result, the number of households with broadband in Brazil is expected to grow to 40 million by the end of 2014.
