A system integration made by Creatus, a startup that is part of Tecnopuc, will support the fight against the entry and exit of illegal materials in Ecuador. The solution, software that will monitor the traffic of unauthorized materials, was created in partnership with VMI Security, from Minas Gerais, and is being implemented, under the supervision of Leonardo Barbosa, cofounder of the startup, in the port of Guayaquil.

The place is a connection point between drug-producing countries, especially cocaine (such as Colombia, Peru and Bolivia), and consumer markets (such as Europe and the United States). The country is plagued by a crisis caused by the actions of drug trafficking groups, which caused a daily average of 27 deaths between January 1st and 8th of this year, the imposition of a curfew and an extreme feeling of tension on the streets of several cities.

The big difference in the VMI project developed by Creatus is the integration between five different systems, making detection much more improved. These are effective connections between software and hardware provided by different companies, which, in a standard situation, would not be able to communicate.

“Several ports use technologies for access control, inspections, etc. The difference is that there are now five integrated systems helping in decision making. I'll give an example. Think about the work that the gov.br website does. In the past, to carry out some bureaucratic procedures, it was necessary to access various documents spread across government pages, some of which were even physical. Today, with gov.br, it is possible to find all the information in one place. That’s what integration does”, compares João Severo, cofounder of Creatus. “When implementing these integrations, the objective is to ensure a precise link between the different technological components offered by each partner. This will result in a more efficient, synergistic and safe operation of the Guayaquil port project”, adds Leonardo Barbosa, cofounder of Creatus.

About Creatus

THE Creatus is a Venture Builder that operates in a CTO as a Service format, offering support to companies and startups in the transition of their projects from technological bases to practical implementations.

With a consolidated presence of three years in Tecnopuc, Creatus entered the Park in its maturation phase and today has investment from Marcha SA. Both founders, João Severo and Leonardo Barbosa, have degrees from PUCRS – João studied Administration and a master's degree in Administration at the Business School and Leonardo has a degree in Computer Engineering and a master's degree in Software Engineering at the Escola Politécnica. At PUCRS, João experienced the University's innovation ecosystem in different opportunities, such as the Innovation Marathon, Garage and Road – startup development programs carried out by Tecnopuc.

“Creatus’ trajectory is an example of what we seek to support through Tecnopuc’s action: innovative businesses that have the potential to generate positive impact. We are very happy to see the startup, which followed our development programs, reach new markets and support the resolution of such relevant problems”, says Flavia Fiorin, manager of operations and entrepreneurship at Tecnopuc.

Founded in 2020, the startup has provided services to more than 70 projects, including integration projects for the security of import and export of materials in several ports around the world, from Brazilian ports, in São Paulo, Paraná and Piauí, to internationally, in Egypt and Ecuador.
