CPQD has just opened a center dedicated to smart agribusiness within one of the main innovation hubs in this area of the country: the AgTech Garage, located in the Technological Park of Piracicaba (SP). The creation of this nucleus is the first result of the partnership signed by the institution with this innovation hub, which connects large companies, startups, rural producers, investors and academia, among other actors in the Brazilian agribusiness innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

“Our initiatives aim to develop technological solutions capable of promoting increased sustainability and competitiveness in the agro sector in Brazil”, says José Tomé, CEO of AgTech Garage. “We have several innovation partners and, certainly, the partnership with CPQD should open up many new business opportunities based on innovative technological solutions”, he adds.

Tomé clarifies that, despite being strategically located in Piracicaba - a region recognized as the Silicon Valley for agribusiness in Brazil, where important companies, startups and institutions linked to the sector are located -, AgTech Garage operates throughout the national territory and has connections also outside the country. Among the various partners that make up its ecosystem, it mentions companies such as Bayer, Ourofino Saúde Animal, OCP and Sicredi, called Innovation Partners.

For CPQD, integration into this ecosystem is in line with its strategy of open innovation and the development of solutions for smart agribusiness. “One of the objectives of this partnership is to leverage new opportunities for technological innovation, mainly involving Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, connectivity, sensing and Blockchain technologies”, highlights Fabrício Lira Figueiredo, Business Development Manager in Intelligent Agribusiness at CPQD.

He recalls that the AgTech Garage brings together in its ecosystem more than 350 startups focused on agribusiness – known as agtechs. “The connection and integration with these startups, as well as with rural producers, agricultural and credit cooperatives, and also with large companies in the sector that are part of the AgTech Garage partner network, is very important for the development of new CPQD projects. focusing on the demands and needs of this market”, concludes Figueiredo.
