Innovative system is the result of a project developed with the support of EMBRAPII and SEBRAE
An innovative solution for perimeter security, practically invisible, in which a common fiber optic cable acts as an advanced and ultra-sensitive vibration sensor, capable of detecting and classifying different types of threats, and even emit alarms in real time. The novelty is the main result of a project developed by the company Alfa Sense in partnership with the EMBRAPII CPqD Unit, which had the support of SEBRAE (Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Businesses), named FENCE: LITE.
“We are bringing to the Brazilian market an advanced, high-performance solution, with technology that is fully developed in the country, which makes it possible to be cost-competitive in relation to currently available solutions, as well as local technical assistance,” says Hamilton Silva, director of Alfa Sense.
Marcos Sanches, Sensing Solutions manager at CPqD, points out that the new technology is the result of the organization's experience of more than 20 years in the development of optical sensors for various market sectors – among which, energy, oil and gas and mining stand out . “The partnership with Alfa Sense is in line with the trend to foster the national industry, through the development of new technologies, and to bring local solutions to the market, adapted to our reality, generating value for the client and for society. This is precisely the role of the EMBRAPII CPqD Unit together with SEBRAE”, says Sanches.
Impacts on the perimeter security market
Hamilton Silva highlights the innovative concept of the FENCE: LITE solution, which should revolutionize the security market. “This new optical technology greatly reduces the risk of defects and vandalism in the field, as there is no electronic element around the entire perimeter; only the passive optical fiber acts as a sensor”, he explains. He adds that the solution is simple, fast and inexpensive to install, as it does not require field infrastructure, and also has the advantage of not generating false positives (false alarms). "The perimeter is never vulnerable, as the system detects all possible forms of intrusion, whether through an attempt to climb, cut the fence, break the wall, cut the fiber, excavate, tunnel, or other tricks used by criminals", emphasizes the director of Alfa Sense.
According to him, the technology can also work together with other solutions aimed at perimeter protection - such as cameras, sirens, alarm panels and panels, RFID readers and third-party software -, which represents a differential in relation to other systems available on the market . “In addition to detecting the invasion, our solution allows us to identify the very intention of taking the action and also informs the location precisely, in real time”, emphasizes Hamilton Silva. In the case of a threat, it is possible to program actions such as, for example, turning on spotlights, emitting audible signals or directing cameras to the location, among others.
The FENCE: LITE solution was developed to be used both in the perimeter of a condominium and in larger areas (medium and long distances). “We created a product to meet the needs of Brazil and Latin America”, concludes Hamilton Silva.
