Imagine Cup 2016 finalists will compete for prizes
up to US$ 50,000 to create startups

The deadline for students from over 80 countries to register for the Microsoft Computing World Cup, via the website www.imaginecup.com, runs until March 14 for the three categories: Games, Citizenship and Innovation.

Students over 16 years of age can participate, including university students, postgraduates and masters. The competition has been held by the company since 2003 and recognizes technological projects that aim to benefit society.

The first stage will be national and will take place in April. The project chosen as the most innovative and with the most business potential in each country will compete for the world final in Seattle, USA, in July. First place winners in each category will receive USD 50,000, runners-up will receive USD 10,000 and 3rd place winners will receive USD 5,000.

“The initiative is part of Microsoft's commitment to the development of the countries where it operates and an important tool to support Education and Entrepreneurship. The 2016 season of the Imagine Cup should inspire young people to overcome challenges, set goals and take bold steps towards their professional future”, says Richard Chaves, Director of Innovation and New Technologies at Microsoft Brazil.

The 14th edition of the Imagine Cup also brings together several online challenges and is an opportunity for young people to engage even more in the world of technology, learn to build creative ideas and develop new skills.

Microsoft created the Imagine Cup in 2003 to inspire young people around the world to improve the way we live through the use of technology. Students from the most varied disciplines put all their creativity and knowledge in the competition into their projects. More than 200,000 Brazilians have already participated in the championship and, in nine of the thirteen editions, national teams were recognized. Brazil was the world champion in 2015, with the E-FitFashion team, from USP, in the main category, with the “Clothes for Me” software, which aims to simplify the process of buying made-to-measure clothes online.
