Trend Micro – a company specializing in the defense of digital threats and security in the cloud age – announced the details of its joint work with the FBI to identify, arrest and prosecute individuals linked to the anti-virus (CAV) service. ) known as Scan4You. 
 
Scan4You is an antivirus (CAV) service that allowed cybercriminals to check the detection of the latest version of their malware against over 30 antivirus (AV) engines in their most modern versions. 
 
This service helped cybercriminals make their malware campaigns even more efficient, which allowed them to craft much more effective attacks. 
 
Trend Micro collaborated in partnership with the FBI, over 6 years of research that culminated in the arrest of operators Ruslans Bondars and Jurijs Mastisevs - found guilty at the end of the trial and the service was taken off the air.

“In this case, our worldwide threat intelligence network associated with our research team was instrumental to the FBI in its actions against this well-known CAV service. It was a heavy blow against cybercrime, helping to dismantle countless malicious individuals and showing that there are consequences to be faced for their actions. We continue side by side with the authorities, supporting their efforts to keep this connected world always safe”, concludes Cabrera.
 
Trend Micro reports a long history of successful cooperation with authorities worldwide. Investigative efforts have already contributed to nearly 20 criminal cases around the world, including cases from entities such as Interpol, Europol and the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA). Recently, a multi-year partnership with the NCA resulted in the conviction of another CAV called reFUD.me
