Contributions can be sent until April 14
 
A new public consultation was opened to receive suggestions for the National Plan for the Internet of Things (IoT) under construction by the federal government. THE consultation, open until 14bril, will serve for the elaboration of a sentence that summarizes the aspiration of Brazil based on the main issues raised during the discussions on the plan. In order of importance, interested parties should list the five main guidelines among: production chain; competitiveness; local challenges; social inclusion; and a connected and empowered society. To participate in the consultation, you must register. 
 
The suggestions will be received by the consortium that is developing the study for the National IoT Plan, requested by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) in partnership with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). The group is formed by the McKinsey Global Institute consultancy, the Pereira Neto Macedo Advogados office and the Telecommunications Research and Development Center (CPqD).
 
The study was structured in three phases: 1st) survey and diagnosis of the Internet of Things market in the world and in Brazil and the initial IoT aspirations for the country, carried out in March and April; 2nd) definitions of the key criteria and the verticals and horizontals to be prioritized, a stage in progress that will last until May; and 3rd) deepening in the chosen verticals; elaboration of the vision for IoT in each vertical and elaboration of the action plan aimed at accelerating the implementation of the IoT market in the country from 2017 to 2022.

ABES personally delivered, in January of this year, to the MCTIC's IT Policy Secretary, Maximiliano Martinhão, the entity contributions for the National Plan for the Internet of Things, in which they highlighted that the emergence of the IoT is an opportunity for Brazilian economic development and that the project is fundamental for the integration between associations, institutes, academics, public organizations and the private sector, the financial sector and development, which act in a coordinated and synergistic manner. 
 
It is estimated that there are already more than 15 billion connected devices worldwide according to an annual Cisco report (VNI), including smartphones and computers etc. According to Business Intelligence (BI) calculations, we will have 34 billion connected devices – PCs, smartphones, tablets, smartTVs, smart watches and the internet of things (IoT) – to the internet by 2020 worldwide. .
