The Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) invites all Brazilians to participate in the public consultation on Internet governance in Brazil. Following the "Public Consultation on the modernization of the Brazilian Internet governance structure", promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), CGI.br continues to discuss the subject in its own scope.

Until November 19, 2017, CGI.br will use all available tools to enable the broad participation of society in the preparation of a document containing information, guidelines and recommendations for improving the Internet governance structure in Brazil.

"It is extremely important that everyone participates in this central debate for the future of the Internet in the country. The consultation model of CGI.br was carefully structured in order to involve in a balanced way the different sectors that contribute to the development of the Internet in Brazil in last two decades: academic and technological communities, third sector organizations, government, companies and entrepreneurs, as well as users of the network ", points out Hartmut Glaser, executive secretary of CGI.br.

The Consultation's discussions will be structured around five axes: "CGI.br competencies"; "composition of CGI.br"; "transparency"; "elections and mandates"; and "other topics or considerations". In addition to receiving contributions online, CGI.br will also hold a public hearing during the VII Internet Forum in Brazil, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro between November 14th and 17th.

The result of this process will be the preparation of a final document by CGI.br, with information, guidelines and recommendations for improving the Internet governance structure in Brazil. The document, which will systematize and take into account all contributions received in the public consultation process, will be forwarded to the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) on December 3, 2017.
