Registration for the program will be open until August 15th

Grupo Consinco, a reference in the supply of management systems for wholesale and retail food in Brazil, created a corporate innovation program, called Consinco Retail Lab, to attract and select innovative startups and companies in a more advanced stage of maturity.

The project will be operated by Sevna, a startup accelerator in the interior of São Paulo, and aims to map initiatives that can add more value to Consinco brand solutions and to the products and services offered to customers. Applications for the selection of companies that will participate in the program can be made until August 15th. Applications must be submitted using the form available on the website https://retaillab.consinco.com.br/.

The objective of Consinco Retail Lab is to select companies and startups from all over the country and abroad with projects and solutions developed for self-service wholesale and supermarket retail. Initiatives for pharmaceutical retail and personal care and beauty, where Consinco has a presence, will also be evaluated. Although the selection process receives applications from companies at all stages of maturity, Consinco emphasizes that the program should prioritize, in this first edition, companies with business models that have already been validated and that have a portfolio of customers in operation.

"We are going to choose the best companies, with the objective of bringing a high degree of innovation to the market, willing to face the challenges of the supermarket sector, which is increasingly pressured by customers to offer ease, convenience and security in the shopping experience", explains João Giacomassi , Product Manager at Consinco and responsible for the innovation program.

program steps

Expecting to receive around 200 business applications, Consinco and Sevna should select up to six companies to participate in the first edition of the corporate innovation program, which will be conducted in five phases to be completed by November. After the application stage, companies will go through the pre-selection process and will be evaluated based on three criteria: entrepreneur team, innovative solution and development capacity.

The best qualified will proceed to the third phase and will be evaluated by a team formed by Consinco executives and retail professionals. Entrepreneurs will present their innovations during a business pitch. The initiatives approved in the first edition of Consinco Retail Lab will be announced in the fourth phase, on September 2nd. The last step involves implementing the selected initiatives on Consinco customers.

According to Giacomassi, at the end of the process, the better structured companies, with validated solutions in operation, will be able to become commercial partners and explore the Group's sales channel. Consinco also does not rule out the possibility of negotiating the incorporation of companies or the purchase of solutions depending on the selected innovation. Since 2016, Grupo Consinco has been investing in the acquisition of startups.

One of the initiatives was the acquisition of an e-commerce project specializing in food retail in operation for several Consinco customers. The most recent project is the investment in Mobne, a startup of cloud management systems aimed at small retailers and neighborhood stores, which was born within Consinco and made a spin off in 2018.

Program startups can still have the chance to participate in the Sevna Startups acceleration program. Since its creation in 2015, 26 technology-based companies from all over Brazil, operating in the retail, health, agribusiness and education segments, have already gone through its acceleration programs. In total, Sevna also invested R$ 2.6 million in accelerated companies. "In addition to finding strategic synergy, the initiative aims to seek solutions that adhere to the challenges faced by Consinco's customers, supporting entrepreneurs seeking accelerated growth", highlights João Paulo Geroldo, CEO of Sevna.
