In a meeting held on August 30, 2018, the Board of Directors of Porto Digital unanimously elected the new executive president of the technology park. Pierre Lucena was chosen by the councilors after a vote among representatives of companies, academia and government entities. The manager takes office on November 1.
 
Board member of Porto Digital and CESAR, Pierre Lucena is 47 years old and is a professor of Finance at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and until 08/30 he held the vice-presidency of the Diário de Pernambuco, a position he resigns to assume the command of the technology park. One of the most respected academics in the state, Pierre completed his undergraduate and master's degrees at UFPE – where he was coordinator of the Administration course – in addition to a PhD in Administration/Finance from PUC-RJ.
 
Pierre served as Assistant Secretary of Education of the State of Pernambuco and was a visiting professor at the University of Minho, as a fellow of the Erasmus Mundus Program, in 2010. He was Dean of the Centro Universitário dos Guararapes (UNIFG) from 2013 to 2018 and Academic Director Regional of the Laureate Network, for the State of Pernambuco. He is the author of several works published in the area of finance, in Brazil and abroad.
 
Transition
 
The current president of Porto Digital, Francisco Saboya, announced, on August 14, the decision to step down. Saboya remains as park manager until October 30, during which time the transition will take place with the new president elected by the Council.
