The Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI) ranked the 100 startups, 10 industries and 17 business development support institutions qualified for the second phase of the public notice for the National Startup Industry Connection Program.
 
The program will invest more than R$ 50 million, over the next three years, in promoting the business environment between startups and industries, focusing on the digital integration of the industrial products value chain, through startups.
 
ABDI's president, Guto Ferreira, explains that Startup Indústria was born in a context of collaborative construction, based on startup methodologies, guided by agility, cooperation and lean thinking. "The Startup Industry Connection is the federal government's greatest milestone in the quest to connect the new technological generation, represented by startups, with the national industry. It is a demonstration that ABDI can and should provide the strategic direction for this new path for the sector productive sector", highlighted Ferreira, when celebrating the publication of the ranking of the selected companies, "composed of important representatives of the innovation ecosystem in the country".
 
The startups, industries and selected support institutions participated on July 20, in the second phase of the Startup Industry Connection, the matchmaking, when they define the working groups and align expectations for the start of work in the third stage, the so-called Concept proof. In this matchmaking phase, up to 40 startups can receive up to R$ 200 thousand each between ABDI's prize and investments from selected Supporting Institutions.
 
For those interested in participating in other initiatives of the Conection Startup Indústria, ABDI is organizing a menu of benefits. “We are happy with the result, the composition of the 10 selected industries (Natura, Votorantin, BRF, Dow, 3M, Embraco, Caterpillar, Embraer, Libbs, Ericsson) demonstrates the robustness of the Startup Industry Connection, as it impacts on 10 strategic economic segments For the country. And this is just the first action of the Startup Industry Connection. We are being asked by representatives of specific segments, such as Defense, whose negotiations with the Ministry have advanced", said the Innovation Manager of ABDI and general coordinator of Connection, Elisa Carlos.
 
For Embraer's director of Technological Development, Daniel Moczydlower, the great merit of the Startup Industry Connection is to promote the interaction of all actors in the ecosystem. “In this sense, Startup Indústria plays a fundamental role, as it will help us with decision-making and risks. It is very healthy to learn how this ecosystem works and even map out interesting opportunities to bring these startups closer to our aviation industry supply chain”, observed the director of Embraer, one of the industries selected for the second phase of the program.
 
Guto Ferreira also highlighted the importance of the unrestricted support of the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC). “This is a State policy, which was only possible with the partnership of Minister Marcos Pereira, an enthusiast of innovation as a strategy for the competitiveness of the Brazilian productive sector”, concluded the president of ABDI.
