Applications for the 10th edition of the competition are now open. Master the Mainframe Brasil, which aims to develop participants' programming skills and share the differentials of IBM's z Systems platform. Over the years, the contest has taken Mainframe training, capacity building and curriculum activities to over 1,000 schools in 70 countries. Registration is free and can be done until December 31st.
 
High school, college and graduate students can participate and no prior knowledge of the mainframe platform is required. With a total of four thousand seats available, the event attracts participants from more than 38 countries on six different continents.
 
Registration must be carried out by contest website and the candidate must mention the educational institution in which he studies, also indicating a teacher who will accompany him in the development of his activities. Minors under 18 must send an authorization signed by a legal guardian by email. IBM employees, contractors and members of the Judging Committee will be able to participate for professional development purposes, but they will not be able to compete for the awards.
 
The Master the Mainframe Brasil contest starts on October 10th and will be divided into three parts: basic, intermediate and advanced levels, which can be finished until December 31st of this year. The first step aims to introduce the Mainframe platform and show some basic commands to the user. This phase will require the completion of small tasks and challenges that will require the participant to have basic knowledge of TSO (Time Sharing Option) and ISPF (Interactive System Productivity Facility).
 
For the second stage, the student must have sufficient mastery to perform more complex tasks. The objective is to present some more practical aspects of programming systems and application development on the Mainframe. The last step is the most challenging, as it allows the student to interact more intensively with the platform and also provides an experience similar to the challenges that occur in the real IT world.
 
At the end, the best competitors will be awarded with electronic equipment according to their performance in the contest. The prizes will be announced only after the activities start.
