The publication provides practical tips on how these companies have been using technology to overcome the current challenges of managing people in retail

The People and Retail Management e-Book: 4 challenges from the main industry leaders is now available for free download. The publication brings together statements from HR leaders at Amaro, Gazin, Grupo Martins, Magazine Luiza and Netshoes on how these companies have been overcoming the current challenges in the Human Resources area with the support of technology. Interested parties can access the link https://www.lg.com.br/lps/ebook-gestao-pessoas-varejo/ to download the book.

Organized by LG place of people (www.lg.com.br), a leading company in the HR technology sector, the e-book brings the recipes of these large companies to ensure personalized, unique experiences that enable the creation of humanized connections between employees and HRs in times of rapid digital transformation.

In one of the excerpts of the book, the executive director of People Management at Magazine Luiza, Patricia Pugas, reveals that she has met excellent professionals who have fallen by the wayside in their careers because they lack resilience. “They gave in to the first difficulties and didn't proceed as they should. On the other hand, I have seen other professionals even less qualified than the first ones, but who went further because they remained firm in their purpose. Having a purpose and being resilient are essential attributes.”

In another passage, the HR director of Grupo Martins, Fabricio Alves Ferreira, assesses that all retail is undergoing profound change with the process of digitization and disintermediation of business. “We have e-commerce businesses for retailers and end consumers. Therefore, having professionals prepared and aware of the changes that need to be made in the company is fundamental for the organization's perpetuity”, he details.

The HR Retail Leader Profile

Gazin's HR manager, Viviane Thomaz, tells in the book what are the attributes expected of leaders in people management in retail: “A professional with good business vision, engagement, communicative, capable of undertaking, managing conflicts, having analytical thinking to work with data, creative and empathetic”.

Also on this topic, the manager of Human Resources and Business Partner at Netshoes, Kermerson Dias, highlights that the maxim that people are the great competitive advantage of a successful organization is true. “Each professional, in the HR management position, must develop to understand their company's business, pragmatically show, in a 'corporate language' the objectives they intend to achieve and deliver results. Even more in the retail sector, which has a dynamic and constant change”.

Focus on attracting and developing people

The HR director at Amaro, e-commerce for women's fashion, Isadora Gabriel, reports on the challenges of training people for the market in which it operates. “When a company is born digital, as is our case, you need employees with a more entrepreneurial attitude, who love technology and want to break away from the more traditional way of working. In Brazil, this is a path that is still changing and HR has a strategic role in this change”.
