With the aim of helping to reduce the gap in programmers and technology specialists that currently exists in Brazil, Oracle, through its educational programs Oracle Next Education (ONE) and Get Started with Oracle AI, launches a call to train more than 20 thousand people in technology and artificial intelligence in Latin America.
The tech talent shortage shows no sign of abating, with the US Department of Labor estimating that the global shortage of software engineers could reach 85.2 million by 2030. According to online education provider Coursera, around 50% of Latin American companies say they cannot find candidates with the skills they need, compared to 36% of companies in OECD countries. Likewise, and based on data from the World Economic Forum, 50% of all employees will need to be retrained by 2025 as technology adoption increases, making it necessary to train on new trends, especially in aspects related to artificial intelligence.
Therefore, in a continuous commitment to innovation and market pain, Oracle launches two certification options: ONE (Oracle Next Education) aimed at people without IT knowledge and who did not have access to higher education and Get Started with Oracle AI for professionals who already have an affinity with technology and seek to improve their knowledge in AI, whether they are developers or teachers.
In the case of ONE, interested parties can register through the website, until January 10th. In this edition, different work modules are covered, starting with the Program Selection phase, in which the student will take the Programming Logic and Personal Development route, with more than 560 hours in 6 months, it is 100% online and gives students flexibility to attend classes and complete projects according to your availability. Furthermore, a new module on artificial intelligence is already included, in which they will learn about the intersection between ChatGPT and JavaScript to create games, assertive prompts focused on generating appropriate responses, and the use of OpenAI Playground. ONE also offers OCI training – Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and MySQL at OCI.
ONE participants, after graduating, will have access to the program EmployONE, a job networking platform that will connect them directly with job opportunities to work with Oracle client and partner companies that are allies of the program.
“Education is the catalyst that ignites human potential towards a promising technological future. With Oracle Next Education we are opening doors for more people to have access to quality education, forging brilliant minds, empowering students with the tools of today and tomorrow to be competitive in a world of work where skills in technology and Artificial Intelligence are the basis of innovation and progress.” says Gabriel Vallejo, Senior Vice President of Operations and Marketing for Latin America and co-founder of the ONE program.
In turn, the Get Started with Oracle AI program offers training on AI fundamentals and a certification opportunity on the technology that seeks to train allies, IT professionals and the general public who have an affinity with innovation. The course consists of six modules explaining the fundamentals of Oracle AI, machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and AI infrastructure and services. Once completed, those who have signed up will be able to take a test to become Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations Associate certified. Additionally, Get Started with Oracle AI will have 30-day trials with credits of US$300 for using and testing AI services on OCI's cloud infrastructure.
“According to the WEF, the number of AI-related roles such as data scientists, big data specialists and business intelligence analysts is expected to increase from 30% to 35%. With our certifications, we hope to provide the necessary tools for professionals to learn about the fundamentals of this technology and continue building a valuable career for the society of the future”, explains Leandro Vieira, VP of High Technology Companies in Latin America.
