Comau, a major player in the automotive sector, increased its control and reduced the number of failures in its operation by 60% with SoftExpert, a global provider of software and services for automation and improvement of business processes, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.

Comau is an Italian multinational that is part of one of the largest business groups in the world: FCA (Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Maserati, Teksid and others). A world leader in providing advanced industrial automation products and solutions, it has a portfolio of industrial and collaborative robots, autonomous logistics, wearable technology, automated systems for production lines, digital and interconnected solutions, machining centers, specialized industrial maintenance services. and facilities.

According to Cláudia Regina Comunian, QMO Analyst at Comau Brasil, the management of the Service business unit, along with processes and performance information, was basically performed in spreadsheets and communication by e-mail, which meant reliance on manual processes. The more than 50 contracts implemented in 12 Brazilian states, organized by portfolio lines and region, generated information using 25 tools/spreadsheets per location, in a total of 500 documents per month.

“The compilation of information, analysis and results on the performance of the services provided in the contract took, on average, 7 days to be generated, with the use of 1 full-time engineering resource. Communication with the client was carried out in a non-automated way, depending on the availability of receiving a person in charge from COMAU”, reveals Cláudia.

The tool has 220 users in the areas of Quality, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Logistics, IT, Heritage, Sales, Security. The Process, Form, Audit, Incident, Problem, Performance, Document, Risks, Questionnaire, Action Plan and Project components are used.

“With the tool, our needs/demands for the operationalization of Comau were met at all stages. For this development, a multifunctional team was created, with professionals from the areas of Quality, Engineering and Processes in a total of 8 months of work”, says Cláudia.

SoftExpert Suite allows the monitoring of processes and contracts in all their stages, through a structured and automated process. The solution was made available to all areas involved, with different levels of security and management, with dynamic portals, where there is relevant information for each level, which can even be accessed via smartphones.

“Today we have a reliable monitoring of the performance of contracts, with the identification of problems and failures in an agile way, assertive action for solutions and suggestions for improvements. We managed to reduce the risk of failures in 60%, according to data from the latest QMS audits, in the correct and complete application, creating an organizational culture focused on Quality, raising awareness among users and managers, in addition to helping to maintain the ISO 9001 certification”, says Claudia.
