Tech.Já program already seeks to attend young people from public schools interested in developing a career in technology
JA Brasil, one of the world's largest organizations focused on youth entrepreneurship, opens registration for the Tech.Já. Held with the support of Google.org and the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), the initiative seeks to train students in the area of Information Technology (IT). This year, there are approximately 500 vacancies distributed among the states of São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Distrito Federal, Amazonas and Paraná. Registration is open until February 23 and must be made through the link: https://bit.ly/TechJa
With a duration of five months, with dedication of five days a week, the program will be carried out completely online and free of charge. The initiative is aimed at low-income young people, who study or have been trained in public schools. In addition, the interested party may not have had or be linked to any job registered in the portfolio (CLT) or in any professional training course.
“Brazil is experiencing a huge shortage of technology professionals. There are thousands of vacancies not filled by the lack of qualified people to occupy these positions. Our mission is to transform the future of these young people, preparing them for the job market and awakening their interest in the area ”, comments Bety Tichauer, superintendent director of JA Brasil.
Among the total number of students, the program seeks to reach 35% of women and 30% of young people in which the family has up to one minimum wage per capita. The program will also give priority to black people and LGBTQIA + in the selection process. In addition, another inclusion action that will be carried out by the program is the loan of computers and installation of internet for students who do not have these resources.
“We see in this project the opportunity to join forces with Google.org and the IDB Lab for a single objective, that of creating paths for thousands of young Brazilians, contributing to the development of the country as a whole. And we make a point of opening the door for those who, for socioeconomic reasons, find it more difficult to enter the job market ”, concludes Bety Tichauer.
At the end of the course, students will receive a professional IT support certificate from Google and a certification from JA Brasil. Young people who complete the certificate become part of the talent banks of partner companies, such as Localiza, Rappi, Coca-Cola Brasil, Google, Magazine Luiza and Telhanorte, and can be called for interviews in the case of vacancies.
“The pandemic has had a huge impact on the economy, affecting mainly small businesses, people from lower social classes and young people who are still looking to enter the job market. We want to help these people obtain high-level qualifications in the technology sector and, thus, contribute to the country's economic recovery ”, says Jimena Tomás, marketing manager at Google Brazil.
Pilots
Tech.It was already launched at the beginning of last year, in pilot and in-person format. The course served more than 70 students in São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Recife and Florianópolis. The pandemic, however, required an adaptation of the program to the online format. The initiative earned JA Brasil the '2020 Superheroes for Development Award', given by the IDB, for the institution's effort and creativity to maintain its activities despite the difficulties imposed by the advancement of covid-19. Among students trained in December 2020, some have already been placed on the market.
For the new edition of the program, JA Brasil hired Numi Educação, aiming at a remodeling of the format and the contents taught. The initiative aims to provide students with the best learning experience in the virtual environment. For this, the consultancy listened to part of the students who finished the course in December and also the teachers, to understand their main needs and adjust the program to their routines.
