Winners will split R$ 900k and receive executive education course

Applications for the National Innovation Award Edition 2016/2017 are now open. Companies of all sizes can submit innovative projects, products and processes to compete for R$ 900 thousand pre-approved in the SENAI SESI Innovation Notice and executive education courses. The application is made exclusively through the award website and can be made until January 15, 2017.

The 5th edition brings news in the regulation. The winners will be divided into four categories: micro and small companies served by the Local Innovation Agents Program (ALI), micro and small companies, medium-sized companies and large companies. The award will be given in the categories of innovation management and innovation, which has four subcategories: product, process, organizational and marketing.

Unlike previous editions, it will not be necessary to submit a specific innovation project for each category. Now the company registers only once and will be evaluated as a whole, being able to be selected in more than one category or subcategory. However, innovations must have been developed within the last two years at most and be implemented at the time of application. The award is aimed at the industry, with the exception of MSEs served by the ALI, which may be from the industry, commerce or service sectors. The winners will be announced at the Brazilian Innovation Congress in June 2017.

CNI's Director of Innovation, Gianna Sagazio, explains that the award is a stimulus to the culture of innovation in the private sector. "We want to encourage and recognize the merit of Brazilian companies that invest and bet on innovation as a strategy for competitiveness", he says.

The president of Sebrae, Guilherme Afif Domingos, celebrates the award as an incentive to the emergence of innovative small businesses, with high potential for impact on the economy. “We are increasingly interested in encouraging the creativity of small businesses, as they will increasingly be the engine that drives innovation in the country,” he says.

The National Innovation Award was created by the Business Mobilization for Innovation (MEI) and is carried out by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae), in partnership with the Euvaldo Lodi Institute (IEL). ), the Social Service for Industry (SESI) and the National Service for Industrial Learning (SENAI), with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC), Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), Funding for Studies and Projects (FINEP), Movimento Brasil Competitivo (MBC), Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI), National Association for Research and Development of Innovative Companies (ANPEI), National Association of Entities Promoting Innovative Enterprises (Anprotec), National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation (EMBRAPii).

In 2011, the year of the award's debut, there were 427 entries from companies from 19 Brazilian states. The following year, with Sebrae's entry into the National Innovation Award, the number of applicants jumped to 981, driven by the significant increase in micro and small companies. In the 2014/2015 edition, there were 2,219 entries, a number five times greater than in the first year. All Brazilian states had participants.
