IBM introduced a series of new technologies and services that will bring customers greater control, visibility, security and governance in a hybrid cloud environment, similar to what companies already have in private cloud and traditional IT systems. With these changes, IBM hopes to provide greater data portability in these environments, allowing developers to work more simply in cloud infrastructures or in non-virtualized environments.

Among the new services presented are those aimed at the portability of corporate applications in open standards, which allow you to easily move the volume of business information to bring the app closer to the data and vice versa, increasing its control, visibility and security. One of the highlights is the IBM DataWorks solution, which allows developers to subdivide and manipulate public and private datasets. Collaborative Operations brings more visibility and control in hybrid cloud environments, with a unique and advanced view from beginning to end of the process.

Hybrid clouds allow companies to augment their existing infrastructure by integrating all of their systems. The IBM Cloud provides control, visibility and the flexibility to run critical applications and processes in a secure environment. With IBM's SoftLayer infrastructure, combined with the newly announced services, customers will now have the right tools and environments, able to combine all of their data, no matter where it resides, to respond to changing market dynamics. In addition, with API (Application Programming Interface) based services, along with Bluemix (IBM's cloud platform for developers), IBM will help create a hybrid cloud environment that gives customers the tools they need to grow your activities in the cloud.

According to IDC, 80% of the new applications built in the cloud will make use of data analytics brought about by the convergence of mobile applications, e-commerce transactions and other web applications. Companies are investing to gain value from the data to be generated in today's digital revolution. As a result, they are increasingly looking to incorporate, manage, and gain insights from the analysis of this data. IBM expects more than 65% of IT companies to use hybrid cloud technologies before 2016.

"We are introducing a new category of hybrid cloud innovations that extend the capabilities of open standards to enterprises. This will help break down the barriers between clouds and on-premise IT systems," said Robert LeBlanc, vice president of Cloud at IBM. "Locating data across an increasing number of clouds is a growing concern for customers and we are launching new portability and development services to make this easier to manage."
