CLM, a Latin American distributor focused on information security and network infrastructure, created the Covid19 Working Group, which has been working intensively to support its channels in the urgent demands arising from the proliferation of remote work adopted by many organizations and which exploded with the crisis of the new coronavirus.

The CLM WG is mapping the technologies available to accelerate the digital transformation of organizations, with security, speed and adequate investment. The specialists made a real scan of the road maps of its partners so that its more than 400 channels, in Brazil and Latin America, can develop projects, implement them and deliver effective solutions very quickly.

An important technological advance, mapped by CLM professionals, was the introduction of features that automate and secure migrations to the public cloud, with the secure management of advanced SD-WAN, software-defined WAN architectures. If they already offered business application targeting, cost and performance savings for Software as a Service (SaaS) applications and unified communications services, with the addition of new features, they are now able to optimize cloud connectivity and automate protection scalable in multicloud deployments.

The director of CLM, Tom Camargo, explains that one of the deficiencies of SD-WAN was in terms of security due to its direct access to the internet. “This issue has been fully resolved in the new version of the Barracuda CloudGen Firewall, which redefines the concept of a firewall from simple perimeter protection to a distributed network optimization solution that can be scaled to any number of locations and applications.

Barracuda has added a variety of automation features to streamline deployment and ensure visibility and control for successful, fully protected deployments,” notes Camargo.

With the digital transformation and social isolation in place with covid-19, organizations are moving to distributed work, public and private cloud infrastructure.

Key features and new functionality added to your solution are being communicated to CLM's network of 400+ channels:

Direct internet optimization – CloudGen Firewall automatically chooses the best direct internet connection available for typical Cloud apps such as Dropbox and SalesForce. In the background, it monitors your availability and dynamically prioritizes the best uplink for each geographic location, based on its conditions at that time.

• WAN Path Controller – The new dashboard further expands Firewall Insights capabilities and dynamically displays global WAN data and the health status of each remote location, including the users' home in home office. This allows companies to make more efficient use of WAN resources, improving the performance of key applications.

• Automated integration with Azure vWAN – CloudGen Firewall now integrates Azure vWAN with centralized management, zero touch deployment, and Office 365 vWAN policy support for optimized performance of Cloud apps.

automation API full lifecycle – CloudGen Firewall now includes features for network segmentation, security and access control for automated deployment as part of agile cloud development processes. The idea is for organizations to leverage the full potential of their Cloud migration initiatives.

automatic VPN – CloudGen Firewall offers VPN automation across multiple Public Cloud providers.

• Performance of multi-gigabits – the new version of CloudGen Firewall can more than doubling network performance in the cloud compared to previous versions. This allows you to host and secure even the most demanding workloads that require high bandwidth.

Up to 50% improvement in VPN performance – Optimization and modernization of the underlying VPN engine now utilizes the processing power provided by the multi-core appliance and virtual hardware. This can result in improvements of up to 50% in VPN encrypted throughput, even for already deployed Barracuda CloudGen Firewall units.

Camargo further emphasizes that CLM has distributed cloud-enabled security solutions from Barracuda Networks for more than fifteen years. “All this time, we have seen the concern of the Silicon Valley company in achieving the state of the art in its technology. Looking at the advances of the Barracuda CloudGen Firewall release 8, our technical staff has identified that the solution meets all of today's demands for SD-WAN management, cloud connectivity optimization, and scalable automation of multi-cloud protection,” he concludes.
