Cisco, the world leader in technology, announced last Monday (15) that Laércio Albuquerque is the new vice president of Cisco for Latin America. In his new position, the executive will lead the company's sales in the region and will be responsible for helping customers, partners and governments to accelerate their digital transformation to achieve an economic and social impact.

Laércio has been with Cisco for five years as president of the company in Brazil, where he worked focused on digital transformation and innovation across the country. Recently Laércio launched the digital acceleration initiative, Brasil Digital e Inclusivo, in addition to building strategic partnerships with local governments and important leaders and boosting Cisco's mission to positively impact the lives of millions of Brazilians through the Cisco Networking Academy. Throughout its history, Cisco do Brasil was widely recognized for its culture of diversity and inclusion.

“Laércio is the right leader for Cisco Latin America,” says Jeff Sharritts, senior vice president of sales for Cisco Americas. "Its intense focus on growth, culture and digital transformation will be fundamental as our customers and partners move towards the resumption of their business".

Cisco is committed to Latin America with strategic investments across the region, including the global Country Digital Acceleration program - underway in Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Colombia. Cisco has operated in the region since 1993, currently employing approximately 2,500 employees and 5,700 partners.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to lead Cisco's business in this important and dynamic region,” says Laércio Albuquerque, the new leader for Cisco Latin America. “More than ever, technology has played a fundamental role in our lives. Together with our customers, we are securely connecting businesses, governments, education and health systems - while building a more inclusive future for everyone, ”he says.

Laércio has been working in the technology sector for about 35 years. Before Cisco, he held important leadership positions in Brazil and Latin America. He worked at CA Technologies for 20 years, where he held several leadership positions, including country manager in Brazil and president and general manager for Latin America. The executive has a degree in Systems Analysis and Business Administration from Faculdades Associadas de São Paulo (FASP) and an Executive MBA from Insper.

Cisco is in the process of appointing the next president of the Brazilian operation and is expected to share details in the coming weeks.
