Cietec (Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology) will hold on May 13, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, the meeting Lei da Informática: innovation in partnership with incubators. The objective is to clarify the benefits brought by the legislation to both companies and entrepreneurs.

The meeting will be presented by the coordinators of Administration and Finance, Luis Gustavo Malzone, and Information Technology, Leonardo Dominguez, both from Cietec. They will talk about general aspects of the law and the presentation will be followed by a debate on opportunities and competencies for incubated companies. At the end, the graduated company Phi Innovations will tell its successful experience of accessing the Law's resources.

The Computer Law works through tax incentives and is aimed at hardware manufacturing companies in Brazil that invest in R&D. Until 2014, companies covered by the law are entitled to deduct 80% from IPI to invest in national software development. After that date, the value gradually decreases until 2019, the year in which the applicability of the resources expires. In order to comply with the law, it is necessary to comply with requirements such as a production plan, quality control and human resources area.

Sergio Risola, executive director of the entity, explains that the small company that develops innovative hardware and software, incubated at Cietec, can count on the standard's support. "This is an unprecedented competitive, economic and innovation-supporting advantage," he says.
