Brasoftware's project involved more than a thousand licenses for the solution, installed in five different units

Cebrace, a joint venture between France's Saint-Gobain and Japan's NSG, and one of the main glass and mirror producers in South America, completed the implementation of the McAfee Web Security and McAfee Web Gateway Appliance applications in a project led by Brasoftware, a company technology solutions provider. The solutions aim to improve the security of the IT environment, in addition to protecting the infrastructure and web access of the company's users.

In total, 1,001 McAfee Web Security licenses and two McAfee Web Gateway Appliance licenses were purchased – both software and hardware – in a project implemented over a week. The solutions are present in Cebrace's five units: three in the city of Jacareí (SP), one in Caçapava (SP) and another in Barra Velha (SC).

web access control

One of the main needs of Cebrace's IT team was to manage and control users' access to internet content, in order to maintain the quality and speed of the connection. Activity possible to be performed with the Gateway, quickly and objectively.

“With the completion of the project, we obtain reports that show us in detail everything that is accessed on the network, including categories, volume of transmitted data and the navigation time of each user”, said Diego Detomini, IT Infrastructure Coordinator at Cebrace .

The executive has even diagnosed one of the “villains” of the network, after advanced reporting with the Gateway Appliance. “We found that accessing online radios consumed a considerable amount of data from the network, which made it slower. We diagnosed that many users connect to these radios, sometimes all day, while they work, which generates a very large stream on the network. We made this assessment with the blocking tool”, says the coordinator, explaining that before, when the internet link ceiling was reached, his team had to keep looking for who was accessing the content that had an impact. For this, they used other tools that did not have a centralized management panel, which consumed a lot of team time and the work was not effective enough.

With the new control management, the need to invest in an internet link upgrade was eliminated, since now Cebrace's IT team can diagnose and control network usage more easily. The next step is to release some sites that are not part of the work routine, but that are authorized by the company's internal policies.
Safety

Another important gain for Cebrace with the implementation of the project in partnership with Brasoftware was the security of the internal network. Intel Security solutions enable information loss prevention through web access and also scan viruses and malware before they reach the user's machine – all in an easy-to-manage way.

McAfee Web Protection overlays multiple threat detection technologies to provide the deepest web security available. From opening content and scanning live elements in real time with McAfee Gateway Anti-Malware Engine to web reputation. The solution provides Web application discovery and management tools that enable system administrators to identify and manage access to rogue or unknown applications (also known as hidden IT, or shadow IT) to reduce or eliminate the threat of potentially unsafe applications.

“Today, we have control over the information that enters and leaves our network. Security and accuracy in combating the main known and unknown web threats, preventing attempted attacks and propagation of threats, keeping the intellectual property and the Cebrace 100% environment safe. Brasoftware played a key role in the process, with a fast and agile team, a great partner in the project”, concluded Marcos Peloggia, CIO of Cebrace.

“It was a challenging project for Brasoftware, considering Cebrace's IT environment, with five units. Intel Security solutions perfectly met the customer's demand, which continues to rely on our partnership in the management of tools”, concludes José Maurício, product specialist at Brasoftware.
