ABES was present at the 2nd Brasscom Public Policy & Business Seminar, held on March 15 and 16, 2017, in Brasília (DF). Fábio Rua, coordinator of the ABES Regulatory Committee and Director of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs at IBM Latin America, presented, on the 15th, the initiative Brasil, País Digital (www.brasilpaisdigital.com.br), launched by ABES in May 2016, with the creation of a Portal and, later, with the launch of a Facebook page, in July, and presentations at events. He spoke about the campaign's communication plan for 2017, which will be intensified through actions on networks and face-to-face events, and presented, firsthand, the movement's new twitter profile (@BRpaisdigital).

The initiative's proposal is to allow civil society to engage in the discussion and have access to qualified information on the collection, use and sharing of data, in addition to educational work on digital security. “We realized that this debate about the use of data, innovation and new technologies was not reaching the common citizen. For this reason, the representative entities came together to increase the power of viralization of the debate in order to reach the greatest possible number of people”. Fábio Rua also spoke about the actions of the virtual government, relevant to the ongoing digital transformation process, the bills on privacy and how data protection is a critical issue today.

This initiative has the support of a series of institutional partners: ABIIS (Brazilian Alliance of the Innovative Health Industry),  Assespro (Association of Information Technology Companies),  Brasscom (Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies),  BSA  - The Software Aliance,  FENAINFO (National Federation of Computer Companies),  Brazilian Institute of Digital Law,    ITI Decodes (Information Technology Industry Council),  ABRANET – Brazilian Internet Association and IAB Brazil – Interactive Advertising Bureau.

Francisco Camargo, president of ABES, was also present at the seminar organized by Brasscom. In addition to honoring the industry event in which the new regional and national directorates of the Federation of Associations of Brazilian Information Technology Companies (Assesspro) took office, Camargo mediated the panel “Digital Government: legal frameworks, governance and strategy”, which took place this Thursday (16), in which participated Marcio Rodrigo Braz, IT Inspection Secretary of the TCU Union Court of Auditors; Wagner Silva Araujo, Director of Digital Government at the Ministry of Planning, Development and Management (MPDG); Gloria Guimaraes, CEO of Serpro; Vivalde Cunha Resende, Executive Superintendent of the Post Office. The panel dealt with topics such as serving citizens, government productivity, governance, coordination of activities by IT areas in public bodies and the complexity represented by the need to guarantee the integration, integrity and security of data held by the government.
