CA Technologies, one of the world's largest IT security, development and management software companies, announces the signing of an agreement to acquire Xceedium, a provider of identity management solutions for on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments. The transaction is expected to close in the 3rd quarter of 2015. Details of the agreement were not disclosed. Xceedium is based in Virginia, United States, was founded 15 years ago and has offices in New Jersey and Ottawa, Canada. Among its clients are organizations in the Finance, Retail, Manufacturing and Government segments.

By acquiring Xceedium, CA aims to expand its security portfolio, bringing to market a comprehensive solution to combat external attacks and internal errors or misuse of data. Recent scandals caused by security breaches and the demand for audits and compliance have increased the need to control and manage the credentials and activities of privileged users, who have free access to high-value systems and process sensitive information.

“The digital world brings tremendous opportunity to organizations, while introducing regulatory demands and risks of intrusion into networks through credential theft,” says Denyson Machado, Vice President of Security for CA Technologies for Latin America. “The combination of CA and Xceedium technologies will reinforce our leadership position in privileged identity management and provide clients with a flexible approach to addressing compliance and risk issues related to privileged identity.”
