Multinational food company increases efficiency and productivity with cloud-hosted Office 365, Skype for Business and Yammer tools

Microsoft's cloud information storage service is the new bet of BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world, to gain efficiency in its global operation. A pioneer in the use of the system, the food company aims to improve employee collaboration through tools such as Office 365, Skype for Business and Yammer, which are already used by about 30,000 people in the company.

“Thinking about tangible results, we reduced by around 30% the costs of outsourcing, telephony and travel with the operation using the cloud”, observes Alexandre Biazin, IT Manager BRF. The executive also highlighted the intangible gains of the product, such as a more pleasant user experience, productivity and employee satisfaction.

The project had two significant impacts: the first is the standardization of cloud tools throughout the company's offices, in order to facilitate communication and collaboration between teams, giving them unlimited data storage capacity (which was previously up to 1GB per user). The second is the adoption of a solution capable of offering the agility and flexibility necessary to support international expansion, which is the company's strategic focus.

Another highlight was the speed of project implementation, delivered a month ahead of schedule. In total, the work lasted nine months until its implementation. “With the cloud platform, we guarantee standardization in the delivery of products to all branches, with agility and without the need to install a server or e-mail connection. In addition, whatever the company's unit, state-of-the-art security is in place and prevents problems such as intrusion and theft of information”, says Biazin.

The first product implemented was corporate email, followed by Yammer, internally called “InTouch”. The main objective of using the platform was to raise the level of security and compliance. Skype for Business (integrated into the extension and voice conference system) changed the way BRF communicates and brought a reduction in telephony costs and travel expenses.

“BRF grows a lot outside Brazil and has an important challenge in quickly connecting people from different countries and cultures”, says Biazin. Currently, the company is in full implementation of the intranet portal “We Are BRF”, using Microsoft Sharepoint Online.
