The country is also present in the ranking of nations that most access malicious URLs
The August Fast Facts report from Trend Micro, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, shows a total of more than 12 billion cyber threats registered in the eighth month of the year and a cumulative 109 billion 504 million attacks, with a considerable increase in ransomware cases.
O Brazil continues to be one of the most vulnerable countries to digital attacks, occupying third place in the ranking of nations affected by malware. The list was led, in August, by Japan (30.1%), followed by the United States (17.3%) and completed by India (3.9%) and Australia (3.7%).

“The government is an important agent of digital and social transformation, in addition to processing a large volume of information, which represents very lucrative opportunities for attackers. Public bodies need to modernize their structures, adopting more advanced cybersecurity architectures. There is no longer room for that old thought 'but we've always done it this way', highlights Sérgio Neves, Public Sector Leader at Trend Micro Brasil.
The executive also recalls the importance of companies having a single platform to improve visibility of the environment and to manage risk as a basis for decision-making, targeting and prioritization, in addition to creating communication mechanisms between technical and business areas. and management. “Data is the new oil and that is why it is necessary to invest in cybersecurity solutions that guarantee that the structure is accompanied by a 24×7 service, making up for the lack of specialized labor and maintaining the integrity of services intended for society”, adds Sérgio Neves.
Malicious URLs
Brazil also returned to the list of the top 5 countries that access malicious URLs, led since June by Japan. The United States gained a position in August, with the Philippines in third place and Taiwan closing the ranking, with slight variations in their percentages.

This dynamic trend highlights the evolving nature of ransomware threats, revealing the need for continued vigilance by the cybersecurity industry.
