Brazil, Digital Country, a website created by ABES to share and promote the debate around the collection, analysis and use of data, is now also on Facebook. Topics such as privacy and governance, regulation, security and protection mechanisms and the experience of other countries are present in these channels. The initiative for the development of the website and the fanpage came from the Regulatory Committee of the entity, in order to discuss these relevant issues with its associates and society in general.

“The importance of the web, new software, sensors and mobility is indisputable in society. Today, we live in the phase of information collaboration, which brings us a wealth of knowledge for various economic and social sectors, which allows the evolution of research and the creation of innovative solutions. Rigid data control rules may set Brazil against the grain of digital evolution. Therefore, we are stimulating this debate”, explains Francisco Camargo, president of ABES.

The site presents success stories in various sectors that rely on data collection, analysis and sharing solutions, such as health, education, medicine, industry, public management, agriculture, urban mobility, among other segments. It also presents legislation applied in the main international markets, studies on the importance of data, and clarifications on the myths that surround the subject.

The initiative is already born with the support of national and international entities, also engaged in this debate. Are they: ABIIS – Brazilian Alliance of Innovative Industry in Health; ABRANET – Brazilian Internet Association; ASSESPRO – Association of Information Technology Companies; BRASSCOM – Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies; BSA – The Software Alliance; FENAINFO – National Federation of Information Technology Companies; IAB Brasil – Interactive Media Association; IBDDIG – Brazilian Institute of Digital Law; ITI – DECODES – Information Technology Industry Council
