The Brasil Mais TI digital platform offers free training courses in Information Technology. The initiative, which is a partnership between the Secretariat of Vocational and Technological Education (Setec) of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), aims to awaken young people's vocation for the area of Information Technology, reduce the shortage of professionals in the sector and offer students a career opportunity.

There are 30 free distance courses available, offering more than 1,500 hours of qualification. Created in 2013, Brasil Mais TI has more than 150,000 registered users and 287,000 completed courses.

Access to Technical Education

According to Setec's special innovation advisor, Rafael Almada, the courses can attract new students to the National Program for Access to Technical Education and Employment (Pronatec). “Brasil Mais TI offers 29 Information Technology courses, in addition to the English course. They are courses from the most basic text editor to the creation of algorithms and programming. The intention is also to bring the citizen to the Information Technology courses at Pronatec”, he said.

For the second half of 2015, Setec wants to expand the Brasil Mais TI training courses to federal institutes. In addition to the participation of the institutes in offering courses, there will be days to publicize the program in public schools.

To participate in the courses, users must register on the program's website (www.brasilmaisti.com.br). Students can take up to two courses simultaneously.
