Proposals can be submitted until April 21. Five works will be supported
 
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the National Education and Research Network (RNP) opened the 3rd BR-UE Coordinated Call for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The initiative is aimed at carrying out joint research and development projects between Brazilian and European scientific and technological institutions.
 
Interested parties have until April 21 to submit their proposals in the Cloud Computing, High-Performance Processing and Experimental Platforms categories. Proposals must be sent using the online submission form.
 
The purpose of the call is to strengthen the synergy between existing competencies in the research and development (R&D) communities in Brazil and the European Union (EU), with emphasis on institutions with strong involvement with industries. Access the notice (www.rnp.br).
 
Teachers and professionals in the areas of engineering, computing, software, communication and computer networks can participate; researchers and specialists from teaching and research institutions; teaching and research institutions and organizations operating in the areas covered.
 
Five projects will be supported – four on R&D and one focused on knowledge dissemination and management. The maximum amount per initiative varies from R$ 1.6 million to R$ 6.5 million, based on the current exchange rate of the euro. The call has an estimated global value of R$ 22.7 million (approximately 7 million euros). The same amount will be allocated by the EU to initiatives on the European side, totaling around R$ 45 million.
 
In recent years, Brazil and the European Union have been strengthening cooperation ties in science and technology through the joint launch of calls for advanced research and development projects in the area of information and communication technologies. This is the third stage of this cooperation. The two previous coordinate calls were released in 2010 and 2012.
