In 2012, 30 computers were sold per minute in Brazil, according to a study by IDC Brasil. With a total of 15.5 million units sold, of which 8.9 million are portable (notebooks, netbooks and ultrabooks) and 6.6 million are desktops, which represents a drop of 2% compared to the previous year. The country occupies the fourth position in the world ranking of the PC market, behind China, United States and Japan. 
 
For 2013, IDC expects that 14.4 million computers will be sold, that is, 7.2% less than last year. Looking at a monthly perspective, in January 2013, according to the study, it is noted that the performance already expresses the indication of a decline during the year with a 22% lower result, when compared to the previous month (December 2012) and a decrease of 4% compared to the month of January 2012.
