Up to R$ 15 million in non-reimbursable resources will be applied in IoT pilot projects for Industry

The director of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Claudia Prates, launched this Thursday, 8, together with the National Service for Industrial Learning (SENAI) and the Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation (Embrapii, in São Paulo, the call for selection of Internet of Things (IoT) pilot projects with a focus on the industry. The announcement was made at the CNI headquarters in São Paulo (SP).

“This launch is a consequence of the conclusions of the Internet of Things study: an action plan for Brazil, carried out by BNDES in partnership with MCTIC. The partnership with Senai and Embrapii makes this launch for the industry more robust. More than resources, this coordinated work allows for a union of efforts to make the industry more competitive”, said the director of BNDES companies.

The resources applied by the entities can reach R$ 15 million and must be invested in the assembly and operation of testbeds, test platforms that reproduce a real scenario. This type of experiment can reproduce the conditions of a manufacturing environment without paralyzing the production line.

The call is aimed at SENAI Institutes of Innovation but focuses on specific projects by companies or industrial consortia of any size in the following thematic areas:

  • predictive maintenance of industrial processes;
  • monitoring of processes, assets and activities;
  • optimization and flexibility of the production process to reduce inventories; and
  • new product designs that incorporate IoT capabilities.

Each selected proposal will receive at least R$ 1 million in non-refundable funds. Those responsible for each project must apply at least 50% of the support received. This counterpart may consist of own resources, other BNDES credit instruments or a partnership with the SENAI Innovation Institutes.

More information about the selection can be found on the website. www.editaldeinovacao.com.br.

IoT Pilots – In June, BNDES launched a call for pilot projects for the Internet of Things with application in rural, urban and health environments. With an initial value of R$ 15 million, the selection process received 54 proposals. The great mobilization highlights the importance of IoT for society and the economy, and the success of the call resulted in the expansion of the budget allocated to R$ 30 million. BNDES is currently evaluating the proposals received.

The initiative was one of the recommendations of the study “Internet of Things: an action plan for Brazil”, carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications.
