Brazilian micro and small companies will have access to a new, simpler and more agile line of financing, created by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). Announced this Friday, 22nd, BNDES Crédito Pequenas Empresas meets the demands of the sector and focuses on generating jobs and expanding the granting of credit to smaller companies, responsible for more than 50% of formal jobs in the Parents.

The launch took place at an event attended by the president of BNDES, Joaquim Levy, and representatives of the Brazilian Development Association (ABDE), the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Industry Association (ABIMAQ) and partner banks.

According to Levy, micro and small companies are the “health and vitality of the economy” and credit is extremely important to them. “We are launching this more agile line to serve those who have more difficulties in obtaining credit. This is a contribution from the BNDES to provide more competitiveness to the segment that generates the most employment. And employment is what Brazil needs most," he said.

He also stressed that there is no limit to the amounts allocated to the program. Demand is expected to reach R$ 1 billion quickly and, if necessary, BNDES will make more resources available if demand is greater. “We are not investing in large companies in order to have more resources for this type of activity, and if we reach R$ 3 billion or R$ 4 billion, even better”, said the president of the Bank.
