On March 19, 2014, BM&FBovespa presented the installations of its new data center. The project is part of a strategic investment plan in the order of R$ 1.5 billion, which also includes PUMA, a new trading platform already in full operation; the IPN, the post-trading platform that will integrate all BM&FBovespa clearing houses into just one; CORE, an innovative risk system, and new solutions for the OTC market.

With the new venture, the Exchange will reduce the complexity of managing five data centers to just two, concentrating its processing capacity in the new data center, and reserving another site for contingency. The objective is to ensure greater efficiency and increase the robustness of the Exchange's infrastructure. In addition, the initiative will bring quality solutions to customers, such as the co-location service (DMA4) and the future offer of “colo” solutions for market participants.

The new data center is classified as Tier 3 by the Up Time Institute, the main North American agency for issuing this type of seal. This means that all its facilities are duplicated, such as telecom, no breaks, electricity input from two different sides, generators and air conditioning. The building will also have Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) environmental certification, with initiatives such as highly energy efficient generators and chillers. A sewage treatment plant was also built, which is already in operation.

In the first phase of assembly, the entire capacity of facilities, including generators, no breaks and air conditioning, will be delivered. In 2015, the goal is to cover more than 20% of the capacity to carry the trading system, with around 400 physical servers and 100 network equipment, and occupation of 50 terabytes of data storage. In the second stage, in the coming years, the entire clearinghouse environment will be migrated, which is currently undergoing the integration program, with about 350 servers, including physical and virtual, 100 network equipment and a petabyte of data stored in more than 30% of the space.
