AHK Startups Accelerator will fuel solutions growth

Digital agriculture tools are increasingly present in the field to meet farmers' expectations regarding increased productivity and sustainable practices. With this in mind, Bayer, in partnership with the Brazil-Germany Chamber, opens registration for the 2nd edition of Startups Connected. This year, the challenge proposed by the company is to reduce productivity losses related to pests and diseases and encourage the development of solutions in the area of digital agriculture already available on the market.

In the search for alternatives to increase the efficiency of crop protection, startups established in Brazil or Germany can participate that present innovative ideas, aligned with the daily life of the rural producer, including platforms with a simple and accessible interface via mobile.

According to Hiran Zani, innovation manager in digital farming at Bayer, the company seeks through digital technologies to protect the productive potential of crops. “Digital agriculture tools will allow, in the near future, to improve productivity combined with sustainability, focusing on the efficiency of the application of products in the crops. Precisely for this reason, it is important to always be aware of the main trends in the technology market, and initiatives like this allow us to foster new ideas in the sector”, he said.

“The winners will be able to present themselves at the Brazil-Germany Innovation Congress, receive a diagnosis and follow-up over three months and will have the possibility of receiving investment from BMG UpTech in exchange for a minority stake. The winning projects will also be eligible for the Ideias4Action Award, from the World Bank. This support and visibility can be fundamental for the maturation of companies in this phase of evolution”, emphasizes Camila Navarro, IT Digital & Innovation Manager at Bayer. Those selected will also be able to get closer to the sponsoring companies and will have support in reviewing their business model and creating a work plan.
