Basf and startup accelerator Ace joined together to create AgroStart, an initiative to foster digital innovation for agribusiness in Latin America. The objective is to work on co-creation to develop solutions that improve the day to day in the field through the Internet of Things and Big Data.

In this first edition, three startups will be selected to receive financial resources, methodological support, a network of specialized mentors, access to the market, in addition to relying on the know-how of BASF and ACE throughout the process.

The selection for the first stage of AgroStart runs until September 18 on the website www.agrostart.basf.com/pt/index.shtml. Entrepreneurs interested in participating in the program need to offer solutions that help the agricultural chain in five important challenges: crop management, field automation, inventory management, precision agriculture or traceability.

At the end of the program, BASF will evaluate investment opportunities in the most successful projects. The entrepreneur will also have the possibility of establishing partnerships with BASF in search of funding, purchase or distribution of your products and/or services, in addition to being able to expand your business to up to 20 countries.

In addition to Basf and Ace, partner companies that are aligned with the innovation proposals will be involved, such as agricultural machinery assemblers. "Basf alone cannot support these entrepreneurs. There has to be a union of efforts, so we want to involve other companies", explains Eduardo Leduc, vice president of Basf's Crop Protection Unit for Latin America.
