Unpublished data from the survey The State of Enterprise AI and Modern Data Architecture encompasses the Brazilian market and was presented during EVOLVE24

Cloudera, a hybrid platform for data, analytics and AI, presents unprecedented data on the current state of cloud infrastructure and the adoption of artificial intelligence by Brazilian companies, through the survey The State of Enterprise AI and Modern Data Architecture. This is a special addition to the original survey conducted with a focus on the Brazilian market, and provides broad perspectives on the current situation and challenges of the national market. The data was presented by Rubia Coimbra, GVP Latin America at Cloudera, during EVOLVE 24, the company's annual conference on data and AI held in October.

The research included the participation of more than 100 Brazilian companies and interviews with more than a thousand IT directors, C-level executives and vice presidents. It considers the following topics: the challenges of adopting corporate AI; the current state of corporate AI; and the current state of companies' data infrastructure, which in itself determines much about the future of AI.

Starting with data infrastructure, it was noted that the popularity of hybrid clouds continues to grow, with their main benefits being data security (80%), flexibility (67%) and cost efficiency (57%).

“The hybrid cloud is the answer to several issues raised by companies, as it combines the strengths of other cloud models, ensuring integrity and security for data that may be sensitive. When we talk about the infrastructure of companies, few things are as important as their data, which, in the end, dictates the direction of several processes, actions and decisions within organizations,” says Rubia.

One of the most notable aspects of the survey was the current state of AI adoption by companies. Regarding the models adopted, 75% of the respondents are adopting generative AI, 46% supervised learning and 44% deep learning. Despite this, there are still many barriers to AI adoption.

“Companies are eager to adopt AI in their routines and solve old problems, but the technology still has a lot of room to grow and develop. We have only seen a fragment of what it can provide us and we still see barriers to its adoption, because this is a reality under construction, for companies and for the market”, says the executive.

60% of the interviewees state that adopting AI is still very expensive, 60% of them also point out that the lack of qualified professionals is a problem and, finally, 40% indicated that they face challenges regarding security and compliance.

“By understanding where there is demand for improvement from companies themselves, it is possible to start closing the gaps that become barriers to faster and more complete adoption of AI across all functions. For us, being a partner to organizations at this time is crucial, as we can continue to direct efforts and investments into making cloud and AI infrastructures as complete and efficient as possible,” explains the executive.
