The labor shortage in the IT area is critical. The accelerated expansion of the segment – today, at 10% per year, which could reach 12% in 2015 – contrasts with the lack of trained professionals, which could hold back the sector in Brazil. Data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed People (Caged) indicate that approximately 78.5 thousand IT vacancies will be created in 2014, while only 33.6 thousand people will be trained to fill them.

One of the solutions found by software companies was to promote training to qualify and retain employees. To face this impasse, Audaces, a leading company in the CAD/CAM sales market in Latin America that operates in the development of software and machines for automating the production processes of garments, created the Audaces University. "We seek to technically develop the company's professionals and also bring knowledge to the market in which we operate", says Vera Lucia Brasil Nunes, Director of Intellectual Capital at Audaces.

Audaces University acts in the dissemination of existing knowledge in the company to all areas, training employees to work in daily routines and enabling growth with the development of new skills. "Innovation is stimulated from the moment we do not limit development to their daily lives. Open minds create more, innovate more. In this training process, not only face-to-face training is used, with an internal team, Audaces instructors or external institutions, but also also EAD", says Vera. In 2013, the company provided more than 20,000 hours of distance learning training and more than 40,000 hours of face-to-face training given to customers and employees, both internally and at other institutions.

According to Vera, Audaces' concern goes beyond the training of its employees, as the Intellectual Capital area, which includes, in addition to the University, HR and Organizational Development, seeks to attract, capture and retain professionals aligned with the company's values and culture so that all investment in people's training and development reverts to the growth of the organization itself in a sustainable manner.
